  1. Well, opinions differ. I was there a few years ago and stayed, among other places, in a town north of Cairns in QLD called Yorkey's Knob. There are some fantastic houses on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, but those, at the time went for 500K AUD. The prices have probably gone up a lot since then. My concern about moving to Oz would be the education system. It's not all that good from what I've seen. I think you should go on a month or two vacation and check things out. Maybe stay at a B&B and talk to the locals about jobs, prices, etc. Personally, I love QLD, but then I was there when it was their winter and it was still 80-85F, so imagine how hot the summers get. The "green coffee" is dynamite as is their pizza, by the way :-))
  2. Very laid back lifestyle - Look towards Carins - North Queensland - tropical climate and warm all year around. The Northern beaches are awesome. (10-20 mins from the city) Yorkeys Knob, Trinity Beach, Kewara beach, Palm Cove and Clifton Beach. (also in that order for price range) go to http://www.realestate.com.au to view prices. For info on Cairns go to http://welcometocairns.com.au
  3. Griffith N.S.W. , its appealing. They have crops of popular weeds which are apparently illegal. But everone wants em. Real estate is affordable. Although for some reason, people go missing every so often.
